Procedure for emirates id

National Identity card or Emirates ID is very essential in the day to day life in UAE, especially when it comes to matters related to government and attaining their services. It is issued by the Emirates Identity authority (EIDA)(EIA) and it is necessary that all UAE citizens and residents are expected to obtain it.

Emirates ID registration

  1. Visit a certified Emirates ID typing center with original passport and copy meet the pre-registration process.
  2. Pay the required fee at the Emirates ID typing center for the process, they will fill up the Emirates ID registration form and will return it to you with a barcode for the follow – up appointment.
  3. Appointment date and time sent via SMS to applicant.
  4. Next step is to visit Emirates ID registration centres (for UAE nationals, GCC Citizens & Residents) or Preventative Medical Center (for Expatriates) for fingerprinting and photographing. There is an exception for children under 15.

Emirates ID online

You can also apply for Emirates ID card online by visiting www.emiratesid.ae. You will have to visit a Preventative Medical Center or Registration Center to complete the application process of confirming your biometrics. You need to fill the application for Emirates ID. You will also be required to pay the emirates ID fee.

Required Documents for Emirates Identity Card

The following documents should be made available at the Typing center.

UAE Nationals

  • Original passport.
  • Original family book
  • AED 100 as registration fee (Valid for 5 years)
  • AED 70 as service fee.

Residents or Expatriates

  • Original Passport
  • Residency permit
  • AED 100 as registration fee. (For every year of residence)
  • AED 70 as service fee.

GCC Nationals

  • Original Passport
  • Original document to prove residence in UAE ( Valid employment certificate or valid lease agreement)
  • AED 100 as registration fee.
  • AED 70 as service fee.

Emirates ID for children

Children below 15 years need not visit the Registration Centers. A colored passport size photo with white background has to be submitted. Biometric details are also not required for them. It can be taken once they cross the age 15 at the time of renewal. For newborns, a copy of the birth certificate & valid ID of the parent should be submitted along with the above mentioned documents.

Emirates ID fine

The Emirates ID card fine due to last registration is AED 20 per day and it can go to a maximum of AED 1000.

Emirates ID Appointment

If you want to reschedule your Emirates IF Appointment just in case you missed the appointment, you need to dial 6005 30003 to reschedule the emirates ID appointment. You can either speak to Emirates ID Customer Service Representative or use the IVR system.

Notes

  • AED 50 in addition to AED 70 as service fees is charged for children below 15 years (all nationalities)
  • It is not mandatory that the applicant should be present at the typing center, but his presence is a must for taking the photograph and fingerprints.
  • Those who are above the age of 15 must bring the typing center receipt at the time of registration.
  • At the time of registration contact lenses and hands colored with henna are not allowed.
  • The customer must wear the official uniform of his/her homeland.
