Can I afford to make my dream come true??

May 22, 2013 by epcia33

Hello everyone 🙂 I joined this forum because I'm planning to buy a cheap, 1-bedroom apartment in Dubai in the coming months and move there permanently. I've checked the prices and I know I can afford it but I still don't know how much it costs to maintain an apartment in Dubai, including rent, water, electricity, internet. What's the cost of a nursery for an 8-month-old baby? What about food, clothing, medical care? I'm not thinking about travelling or any luxury, just simple and modest way of living. Do you think I will be able to pay for all that working as a chambermaid in a hotel and as a freelance translator (my profession)? Could you please inform me about this? How much, more or less, should I expect to pay monthly? Thanks so much for your help.

    Good question Epica,

    Buying an appartment in Dubai is a good option for a healthy living. There are fe things you need to consider hen you plan for buying an apartment. As the saying in the book "Rich Dad, poor Dad", an apartment is a liability and not an asset, if you are not producing any revenues out of it. In your case, you would be replacing the increasing rent in Dubai and thus it is an asset.

    No consider the following.

    • If you are buying the apartment through finance, you would have to pay monthly EMIs
    • You need to assess the cost of living and your income, before you make the buying decisions
    • The cost of living vary from place to place and community to community in Dubai. You might want to let people know the community you are living in

    All the Best;
