In a busy city like Dubai, traffic accidents are very much common. So it is important for all of us to know what to do when we are involved in a traffic accident. Here are some useful tips to handle it without panicking.
If you are involved in a minor traffic accident in Dubai, i.e. if vehicle damage is minor and no one is injured, then move your vehicle to the side of the road to avoid blocking traffic. There may be a fine imposed if vehicles are not moved.
In the event of an accident, call the emergency hotline 999 and ask for the Traffic Police. Remember that the car repair companies will not do the repair without an accident report so you must call the police first. If the other party involved in the accident did not stop or wait, then go straight to the nearest police station and file a report.
Once the police have arrived, they will analyse the accident and the police will give a pink form to the party at fault and green form to the innocent party to take to the insurance provider. If your car is damaged while parked i.e, if you notice any scratches on the side while parked at a shopping center, call the police if the damage is bad, or else go to the nearest police station to file a report. After assessing the damage, you will be issued a damage report which has a fee of AED 50 which you can then submit to your insurers. It??s always best to do this as soon as possible after noticing the damage.
- Always keep your UAE drivers license and registration card with you while driving.
