Glamorous in its own right, Mall of the Emirates is home to some of Dubai’s hottest destinations, including Ski Dubai and the Dubai Community Theatre & Art Centre. Spend the day shopping and visiting these attractions, and then be sure to top it all off with dinner at Din Tai Fung!
Ski Dubai
One of the highlights of Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates is Ski Dubai, a five-run ski area complete with groomed snow, an automated lift, and even penguins. In sharp contrast to the desert heat outside, the indoor resort maintains a subzero climate at all times. Given the temperature change, winter clothing and equipment are included in the ticket.
In addition to the five-run slope for skiing and snowboarding, the Snow Park offers a variety of activities for those who wish to stay on their feet. This attraction features toboggans and bobsleds, as well as the “Snow Cavern” and the “Giant Ball.” Snow Park entry also includes free admission to the March of the Penguins show, which happens several times each day between 12 and 9 pm. More exclusive “Peng-Friend Encounter” packages are available for an additional cost.
Dubai Community Theatre & Art Centre
This stunning complex, which seats over 500 people in its Centrepoint Theatre, serves as a major performance, exhibition and educational space for Dubai. This non-profit art center is host to events and gallery shows year-round and also runs courses on topics such as writing, studio art and dance. The Gallery of Light shows work by digital artists in a range of media fields such as film, design and sculpture. Dubai Community Theatre & Art Centre’s diverse programming is meant to enhance the city’s “creative and cultural development” with projects and events that appeal to many audiences.
Din Tai Fung Restaurant
This Michelin restaurant was named “one of the top ten restaurants in the world by the ‘New York Times’ for its mouth-watering xiaolongbao (steamed dumplings), and it is not to be missed. After a day spent skiing at Ski Dubai or attending an exhibition at the Dubai Community Theatre & Art Centre, head over to Din Tai Fung for this fresh and flavorful Taiwanese specialty. The restaurant is polished and bright, making for a delightful conclusion to a busy day at the mall.
