How to get an Investor Visa in Dubai

Feb 10, 2012 by minibalakrishnan

Are you planning to start a business partnership in Dubai? Then your primary concern will be to get your Investor visa. Investor visas are normally issued to expatriate investors in partnership with a National of Dubai. The Investor visa in Dubai is issued for three years and the fee is around AED 300.For applying you have to make sure that you have a minimum shareholding of AED 70,000 in the share capital.

After getting an Investor visa you can establish an UAE company or invest in UAE real-estate.

The Investor visa is issued directly from the Immigration Department and does not need the approval from Ministry of Labour & Social Affairs.

Documents for Investor visa Dubai

  • Visa application form
  • 4 passport pictures
  • Visa application fee
  • Valid passport copy)
  • If you're in the UAE already, a copy of the entry stamp or other valid UAE visa
  • The Free Trade Zone License

After submitting your papers to the Immigration Department, an immigration file is created for you. Before processing your investor visa, a Pink slip is generated in your name. With the pink slip you can enter the UAE on an Employment visa instead of the usual tourist visa. This temporary visa (60 day Employment visa) allows you to enter the UAE for a medical test and finger printing. When your pink slip is ready, your contact person in Dubai can collect in person or it will be sent to his address. If you are already in UAE, you have to take this slip to the border to change the visa status. For investors outside the country the original is sent by paper mail and requires you to fly to the UAE. The Pink slip/temporary visa allows you to stay inDubaifor 60 days to obtain your UAE residence visa as an investor. Within these 60 days you have to get your passport stamped with the UAE employment visa at the border or at the UAE immigration department. The pink slip is handed in at the border.

To get your Employment visa status, you need

  • The Pink slip
  • Passport
  • Fees

The next step is to get your residence visa status and again you have a maximum of 60 days time for this.

For this you need to get your medical tests done which include a blood test and sometimes an X-ray. Also finger prints are taken and your eye iris is scanned. The medical step is mainly conducted to make sure you are not a disease carrier and will not be a liability to the State.

You can also use the Free Trade Zone as an intermediate to help you with the procedures. For a Free Zone Company owner, the residence visa is also known as Investor visa and ‘Partner’ or ‘Investor’ will be mentioned on your visa.

Back at the Immigration department, as mentioned above, there will be an Immigration file in your name .Here the authorities will be waiting for your blood results. Once you submit your medical results and your passport at the Immigration Department, the Residence/Investor visa will be stamped into your passport.

Remember that you will need to be physically present and cannot leave the State from the time you submit your passport and blood results at the Immigration Department till you obtain your Investor Visa.

The Investor Visa in UAE is valid for 3 years or expires when outside the UAE for longer than 6 months.

Is there an age limit for an investor Visa? If a person is 65 years and above, will he/she be granted the same residency status of 3 years?
