How to renew a British Passport in UAE

Since August 1st, 2010, The British Passport Processing Centre (PPC) at Dusseldorf, Germany, is responsible for processing of all British Passports applications from UAE. Any application for renewal of British passports is also processed by this office.

Documents to be submitted

  • Application form which can be downloaded from the website http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-living-abroad/passports1/passports-a-to-z/a-topics/applications-forms
  • Two identical photographs-The photographs should satisfy the biometric criteria. The two photos should be identical and recent. One of the photographs should be attested by a professional, who has known you for at least 2 yrs, however, is not your relative.
  • Supporting documents – Please check for all details: http://ukingermany.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/passports/
  • A credit card authorization slip.
  • Old Passport

Along with the application, please enclose the relevant documents and your credit card authorization slip. You can send the papers via a reputable courier firm or by registered mail from the UAE. DHL Express UAE offers a special reduced rate of AED 100 to get your application to Dusseldorf. All you need to do is contact them and quote the special code: DHLBP. Other reliable couriers are Fedex, TNT or Aramex. All your documents should be original ones and will be returned through DHL Express once your application has been processed.

Payment

You can make a payment using a credit card. You need to have a Visa/Master Credit card to make the payment. Fill the Card Payment Authorisation Form with correct card details. If you are not the cardholder, proof of authorization should be provided. You should enclose a photocopy of the cardholder’s passport or other photo ID with signature.

Passport fees in Dusseldorf are:

Adult passport 32-page passport – €160 48-page passport – €193 Child Passport Child passport (32 pages) – €102

Along with the fees, you also have to enclose the courier charges for returning the passport back to you. DHL Worldwide courier handles the shipment of processed passports from Dusseldorf. They charge €25 for each passport. It takes around 72 hours for you to receive their courier from Dusseldorf. You should receive the passport personally at your home/office address and sign the receipt.

Under normal circumstances, it takes 4 weeks to process and return the renewed passports,

Points to be noted:

If your photographs do not meet the biometric criteria, you will be asked to send a new set of copies. Check with the website to get the latest details. hhttps://www.gov.uk/

While your passport is being processed, you should always carry your Residence Permit and/or other photo ID with you (e.g. driving license), along with a photocopy of your old passport, your UAE visa page and evidence that you have requested a renewal (copy of your application form, proof of postage etc).
