Jebel Jais is the tallest peak in the UAE at about 1,910 meters with its highest point about 350 meters east of the border between Oman and United Arab Emirates at an altitude of 1,925 metres. It is a part of the Hajar Mountains that begin in the Musandam Peninsula and stretch to Sur in Oman.
It is a great weekend gateway and is a right place for adrenaline junkies-bikers and car enthusiasts will love it.If you have a 4×4 then don’t hesitate at all, get ready for an adventurous ride. The drive up to the mountain is mesmerising with sweeping views and smooth roads snaking around the hairpin curves.
There are some handful of viewing points along the way, so you can take a break and pause for a moment to enjoy the breathtaking views. So be aware while driving as you can see picnickers roaming across the road randomly, parking their cars here and there.
The temperature at the top drops significantly during winter and few years back, it was reported that the temperature at the peak dropped down to -3 degree Celsius and the range was covered with 10 centimetres of snow.
Please make a note to take food supplies and stock up on water if you plan to stay longer as there is nothing available on the way.The construction of the road is still going on and there are no lamp posts installed at the road sides, so it is better to drive back home before the sun goes down as it will be too dark for the night ride.
