Art For All has the great privilege and pride to present Richard II produced by Ashtar Theatre from Ramallah. The production was part of the Globe to Globe festival that took place at The Shakespeare Globe in the summer and it brought together many of the world's great companies to present all of Shakespeare's play's in 37 different languages. "Ashtar's production proved one of the great highlights of the festival. It was a revelation. A play which had previousley seemed rather ephemeral and vapid suddenly became actual and concrete and moing. Ashtar's shrewdness in presenting the play within a contemporary world made the play's politics seem fierce and real, and revealed the play and its central character in a whole new light. The acting was exemplary throughout, finding a tone which combined a modern naturalism with the necessary theatricality to match Shakespeare's epic landscape."
