Good work-life balance: Top motivating factor for MENA professionals

Jan 17, 2013 by gulfstay

Earlier in 2012, we asked professionals in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) this very simple question: Are you happy with your work-life balance?

While 43.3% of professionals feel they have not achieved a successful work-life balance in 2012, 89.3% of them still believe that balancing work and life is absolutely possible (more in Bayt.com’s “Work-life Balance in the MENA” poll).

Bayt.com had also made it a yearly custom to ask people in the MENA region to list their top resolutions for the New Year. Interestingly this year, a large number of respondents said they would strive to increase focus on their spirituality and personal growth, but also excercise more, and spend more quality time with their family (more in the “Top New Year’s Resolutions among Professionals in MENA” poll).

A good work-life balance strikes again as shown in the latest survey by Bayt.com. Indeed, the survey entitled “Employee Motivation in the MENA” reveals that professionals in the region consider a good work-life balance to be the most important factor of motivation at work.

Bayt.com Employee Motivation Report 2013 from Bayt.com

The “Employee Motivation in the MENA” survey tackled vital issues such as the company’s support to employees to help them achieve a good work-life balance (39% of respondents claimed that they received little to no support from their organizations to help them maintain it).

The “Employee Motivation in the MENA” survey addressed other issues as well, such as the level of transparency in internal communications, other drivers of motivation, intentions of professionals to stay with their organization, their feeling of loyalty, levels of stress, etc.

Data for the Bayt.com Motivation survey was collected online with the participation of over 10,167 respondents from Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and UAE.

The “Employee Motivation in the MENA” survey is a good indicator of what truly motivates professionals in the Middle East and North Africa region. Download the full report here.
