With the beginning of new academic year,around 118 schools in Dubai is expected to increase their fees. The applications for fee increase have been received and processed by KHDA from 135 schools. Eight more school's applications is yet under process.
Mohammad Darwish, Chief of Regulations and Permits Commission at KHDA said that 'Outstanding' schools can increase fee upto 3.48%, 'Good' schools upto 2.61% and 'Acceptable'/'Unsatisfactory' upto 1.74%.
The KHDA allowed an exceptional increase of 9% for one school, while applications from three other schools for an ‘exceptional’ increase are under review.
Schools less than three years old and that have been granted a hike recently are not eligible for the fee increase in this academic year. This increase is in line with the fee structure and the educational cost index (ECI) issued by Dubai Statistics Centre in January.
