Sharjah Arts Museum
The Sharjah Arts Museum ,which opened in 1997, is the largest in UAE. There are valuable art collections of HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi.Most of the artworks are from artists who captured the Arab Orient. The contemporary exhibits consist of over 300 works of art by local, Arab and foreign artists.
Sharjah Natural History Museum and Desert Park
This is famous for its information of different life forms in the Arabian Desert. It also has an animal farm and breeding centre.
Sharjah – Central Market
The Central Market is also known as the Blue Souq. It is located on the Khaled Lagoon with over 600 shops.The Market has two sections connected by tunnels.The upper floor deals in antiques, a large selection of fine rugs, silver jewelry, Omani and Yemeni antique jewelry as well as curios and artifact.The lower floor trades mostly in gold jewelry, precious stones, perfumes, textiles, cosmetics, cameras, clothing and household items.
Sharjah – Souqs
Souqs are trade centres wherein Arabic Culture is rich and flourishing .Most common are the fish souq, Bird and animal souq and the The Fruit and Vegetable Souq.
Sharjah – Heritage Museum
The Heritage centre in Sharjah includes Sharjah Heritage Museum, Souq Al Arsah, Bait Al Naboodah, Al Midfaa House, Al Hisn Sharjah and Hisn Kalba.
Souq Al Arsah-Exhibits feature silver and wooden artifacts, jewelry, novelties, garments and medical herbs.
Bait Al Naboodah-Exhibits different themes such as traditional clothing, an old kitchen and livingrooms, jewelry, costumes and artifacts.
Al Midfaa House- Exhibits different aspects in literature and culture.
Al Hisn Sharjah features the history of Sharjah through themed displays in each room.
Hisn Kalba was built as a defensive facility on a platform surrounded by a thick wall.
Sharjah Archeology Museum
The museum depicts the archeological history of Arabia. Halls are filled with exhibits which display life during Stone Age. Museum Stone Age hall include ornamental items such as gems and pottery of the Obaid period that were found in Al Hamriyah.The Bronze Age hall feature a film and some archeological findings such as pottery, metals, soft stones and some jewelry.
Sharjah Science Museum
The Sharjah Science Museum is the only interactive hands-on museum in the United Arab Emirates. Visitors to the Sharjah Science Museum can test their flexibility, grip strength and balance, make a cartoon, use a music synthesizer, build a puzzle of the human body or visit Playspace which caters to young children.
There are also a Science Lab, a Computer Lab, and a Primary Workshop which offers many facilities for students.The on-site Planetarium is also one of the attractions of the Science Museum.
Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium
The world famous Cricket stadium was built originally in 1980s. It can now seat around 27,000 people at the same time and has continued to be one of the favourite spot for Cricket fans. Between 1984 and 2003 the Sharjah Stadium was the venue for One Day Internationals featuring three or four international teams.
Sharjah Desert Park
Located 28 km from Sharjah on the road to Al Dhaid. The Desert Park is comprised of the Natural History Museum, Arabian Wildlife Centre and the Children’s Farm.
