US-based online video streaming service Starz Play is launching its operations in UAE by offering subscribers access to more than 3,000 Hollywood movies from major studios and TV shows immediately after their US premiere,with content licensed from 12 studios including CBS/Showtime, Disney, Lionsgate, MGM, Paramount, Shine, Sony, and Warner Bros.
Starz Play which is a ??premium online video service?? will be available across GCC nations with a monthly subscription of $13.99 (Dhs51.39).Also one month free trial is offered to new subscribers.There are no monthly contract and consumers can cancel and renew the subscription whenever they want.
“Our content is completely ad-free and full HD quality, it??s available at any given point in time and you can stream it on any device ?? all of which offers a strong value proposition”, according to Maaz Sheikh, president, Starz Play.He also said that except some extreme cases, the content offered will not be censored. Starz Play also confirmed that there are plans to launch Arabic content in future.
The platform is available for PCs and Macs, iPhones, iPads, Android-operated systems and other devices. Up to five devices can be registered for each subscription and any two can be used at the same time. There are also parental control functions.
Starz Play mainly targets the audience who are currently using virtual private networks (VPN) to illegally access services like Netflix outside the US.
