What Measures Has Dubai Taken For Coronavirus So Far?

The United Arab Emirates recently reported the death of two of its residents who were affected with coronavirus. The Ministry of Health and Prevention released a statement later which revealed that the first patient who died from the virus was in his late 70s and recently traveled to Europe. The second person who died was in his late 50s and was an Asian national. Both patients were already suffering from chronic illnesses and the deadly virus lead to further medical complications which lead to the unfortunate demise of both patients.

The WHO has officially declared it a global pandemic

This deadly virus began to spread from Wuhan last year. So far, it has affected more than 164 countries in Europe and South Asia. With people clueless on how to avoid coronavirus, the WHO has officially declared it a global pandemic. So far, the virus has affected more than 50,000 individuals belonging to different nations. Irrespective of the increasing number of deaths, the majority of people who are infected from this virus usually experience mild to moderate symptoms.

The government has set certain limitations on passenger arrivals

The UAE government has reported 10 death cases so far. Similar to other nations suffering from the deadly virus, the UAE has imposed several restrictions on the locals to control the virus. It has set certain limitations on passenger arrivals. However, several shopping malls and eateries are still open.

The government has cautioned the public to stay indoors

Nevertheless, more than 1,800 coronavirus infections are reported in the entire Gulf region. Most cases were of those who had traveled to Iran. The government has cautioned the public to stay indoors and leave their homes only for getting essential items including food or medicine. Major gyms, beaches, restaurants, salons, and showrooms have been temporarily closed for the general public. All local beaches will remain closed to prevent it from spreading any further via human contact.

The local authorities are punishing against violation of rules regarding self quarantine

The Government has instructed the locals to self-quarantine as per the guidelines suggested by the WHO. With more than 150 recoveries and 10 deaths so far, the local authorities even punished a European resident who resisted the ban imposed by the government for visiting public places. He posted several videos on his Instagram account where he was at the beach and filmed several people who were also at the beach and were violating the precautionary measures to prevent coronavirus.

People are also advised to travel in their cars instead of using public transport

Social distancing is being followed on local transportation, including taxi travel. People are also advised to travel in their cars with no more than three people per vehicle. Social distancing is advised while visiting public areas or family gatherings to ensure the health of the general public. Similarly, people are being advised to not visit any hospitals without a face mask.

Passenger flights have been grounded

All airports have been temporarily closed and all passenger flights have been grounded. With the increased death toll rate in the UAE, the government has also imposed strict restrictions in major metropolitan areas including Dubai where residents are not allowed to go out without registering online to obtain an official permit.

The users should present their ID card, their residential address and car’s plate number as well. They also need to mention their leaving and returning time. However, essential workers don’t need to provide their personal details before leaving their homes. Such workers include health care workers, utility store staff, etc. However, they need to show a letter issued by their employer.

The release of $70 billion package to improve the deteriorating Gulf economy

The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates is offering a $70 billion package to improve the deteriorating Gulf economy caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The rates for different capital as well as liquidity measures imposed by CBUAE has surpassed 256 billion dirhams. Earlier, the UAE government offered a stimulus worth $35 billion which included monetary support to the country’s banking activities and increased opportunities for loans.

All these new measures taken by the government aims to ease various monetary as well as the liquidity requirements for various financial institutions to reserve some cash for the sole purpose of lending to different companies and clients till the end of 2020.
